Details: Twelve shows from six different ranging from Grammy Award winners and multi-platinum artists to tribute bands and spectacular performances.

Gulf Shores, Ala – The Entertainment Series, now in its 29th year at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center, will feature 12 shows from six different ranging from Grammy Award winners and multi-platinum artists to tribute bands and spectacular performances.

January 18 and 19 – Beginnings 

Beginnings will kick off the Entertainment Series. Comprised of intellectual musical talent, Beginnings was born in 2002 out of the love and respect for the music of one of the greatest American rock bands of all time – Chicago. Beginnings will pay tribute to Chicago’s song book which spans more than fort years and includes five number one albums and twenty top ten hits. This family friendly melodic adventure is pleasing to music lovers of all ages! The show starts at 7 p.m. each night and tickets are $35.

January 25 and 26 – Live from Nashville

Fully costumed and choreographed, Live from Nashville is a spectacular production featuring twelve musicians, singers, and dancers showcasing fancy footwork, phenomenal fiddling, and top-flight vocals designed to celebrate a century of celebrities and treasured songs from Music City. Both shows begin at 7 p.m. and tickets are $35.

February 1 and 2 – Dukes of Dixieland  

Unlike their Dixieland name, this group plays New Orleans jazz music, from Dr. John and Fats Domino, to Huey Smith and Louis Prima, not to mention many of their own original song. Each member is an accomplished musician with a Master’s Degree in Music. They have 26 albums and have produced 3 PBS television shows: “New Orleans Pops,” Salute to Jelly Roll Morton” and “Celebrating Satchmo.” Playing only 30 dates a year, the group plays a dinner cruise for 45 weeks a year, 7 nights a week on the Steamboat Natchez in New Orleans. The show starts at 7 p.m. each night and tickets are $35.

February 15 and 16 – Music of Diane Shuur

Regarded as one of Contemporary Jazz’s leading vocalists, Diane Schuur is as eclectic as she is brilliant. Born blind from birth, and gifted with perfect pitch, she taught herself to play piano by ear. Her distinguished recording career spans three decades and includes two Grammy Awards as well as three additional Grammy nominations. Her musical collaborations include, Barry Manilow, B.B. King and Ray Charles to name a few. She holds numerous #1 Billboard Chart recordings including “Pure Schuur” and “Heart to Heart” with B.B. King. Each of the shows begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $35.

February 22 and 23 – Women of Ireland

Combining Ireland’s tradition of music, song and dance, this all-female production is an entertainment experience! The show features the next generation of Ireland’s leading female performers including vocalists, fiddle players, a principal dancer and up to thirty other performers. The common theme inherent in all performances is the presentation of the most revered qualities of Ireland’s ethnic music, which will be transported from the Irish fireside to the international concert hall platform. Special significance will be placed on depicting the pure qualities of Irish music in a contemporary setting while the performance will also include well known popular songs which will be given a stirring Celtic treatment. The shows begin at 7 p.m. and tickets are $35.

On February 29 and March 1 – Four Freshmen

Back by popular demand and will close out the 2016 Entertainment Series. The Four Freshmen have been singing with a harmony that is uniquely their own for 65 years. This tight knit quartet is inspired by the Beach Boy’s Brian Wilson, The Mamas & The Papas, Frankie Valli and the Manhattan Transfer. They have recorded over 75 albums, 70 top selling singles, and received 6 Grammy Nominations. Freshmen classics such as “Day By Day” and “Blue Word” will take you back to the good old days! Each of these shows begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $35.
