Colorful outdoor seating areas front the beautiful Intracoastal
Waterway are a prime feature for Cobalt Restaurant in Orange Beach, Ala.
For visitors to the Gulf Coast, finding a restaurant that not only has good food but a beautiful waterfront view generally is top on the vacation “must do” list.
The building boom of the past two decades made waterfront property scarce and expensive but there are still quality options.
The Cobalt Restaurant is nearly hidden under the Perdido Bay Bridge just past the Florida state line. It is nestled next to and within walking distance of the majestic trio of towers at the Caribe Resort in Orange Beach.
The sprawling multi-tier restaurant features sweeping views of the bay available from every table. Outside are colorful Adirondack chairs and comfortable seating areas popular for the spectacular sunsets mother nature offers nearly year-round. The restaurant also offers a marina that can accommodate small to mid-side boats and yachts who wish to “dock-n-dine.”
Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch, a live music area is set aside for those who want to enjoy a cocktail, relax or dance.
During Snowbird season the restaurant also offers special “Early Bird” menus and it is a popular meeting place for the various clubs in the area.
The Brunch spread includes a variety of specialty salads, meats, fruit and casseroles along with a made-to-order eggs and omelet station, French Toast and waffles and a carving station. A selection of desserts also are offered along with discount prices on popular brunch drinks like Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas.
A daily breakfast buffet offers more traditional offerings such as muffins, scrambled eggs, bacon and ham, hash browns and French Toast served with coffee or juice.
Seafood is the star of the lunch and dinner menus with popular items such as crab claws, shrimp served a variety of ways, fresh fish of the day and a variety of dips and specialty appetizers and sandwiches.
The restaurant also offers traditional dinner fare such as baby back ribs, pork and chicken. Sides go beyond French fries and slaw with options such as Hoppin’ John, Brown Butter Green Beans, Poblano & White Cheddar Grits, Sweet Corn & Black-Eyed-Pea Succotash, Home-baked Mac-n-Cheese and more.
Stone hearth pizza is served in a variety of ways and can also be made-to-order.
Dessert options include local favorite Bread Pudding along with out-of-the-ordinary recipes for Triple Chocolate Cake, Cheesecake, Banana Pudding and more.
