Coastal Golf

The Snowbirds Golfing Meccacoastal_golf_story_0309

Snowbirds looking to retire in a golfing mecca can find plenty of courses along the Gulf coast to keep them busy.

From Panama City to Bay St. Louis in Mississippi, there are about 100
courses offering about 2,000 holes of golf.
From public to semi-private to military golf courses, the coast of the Gulf of Mexico offers some of the best golfing experiences, along with some of the best views.
Some of the courses have been designed by the likes of Jack Nicklaus,
Arnold Palmer, Jerry Pate, Davis Love III, Mark McCumber and Fred
Couples.
Prices vary and many offer senior citizen and winter Snowbird rates.

Mississippi
From Pascagoula to Bay St. Louis, the 60 miles of coastal area in
Mississippi provides more than 23 golf courses and more than 400 holes of
golf. Combine that with the area casino and Gulf fishing and it’s a great way
to spend retirement days.

Florida
From Panama City to Destin to Pensacola, more than 50 golf courses and
1,100 holes of golf provide a wide range of golfing pleasures. One thing is
for sure on most these courses, sand traps are a natural part of the golfing
experience. And the view of the sand on the beaches is not bad, either.
