This May at Bellingrath Gardens and Home, we’re celebrating National Public Gardens Day for the third year, and we are looking forward to our annual Mother’s Day Evening Garden Concert. Here are details:

Friday, May 11: National Public Gardens Day. This is a day to recognize the importance of public gardens in promoting environmental stewardship and awareness. At Bellingrath, we’ll offer a special behind-the-scenes tour of our Production Greenhouses, conducted by our Horticulture Management Team. Find out how we grow the signature displays that provide beauty to more than 110,000 visitors each year. The one-hour tour will start at 10:30 a.m. and is included in the regular Gardens admission of $13 for adults and $7.50 for ages 5-12. There is no charge for Bellingrath members or for children ages 4 and younger. Registration is requested; to register, call 251-973-2217.

Sunday, May 14: Mother’s Day Evening Garden Concert. The Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra will present our annual Mother’s Day Concert at 5:30 p.m. Bring Mom to enjoy music in the beautiful surroundings of the Gardens! Limited seating is available, and guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs. Guests are also welcome to bring a picnic lunch; beverages and snacks will be available to purchase. The concert is included in the regular Gardens admission of $13 for adults and $7.50 for ages 5-12. There is no charge for Bellingrath members or for children ages 4 and younger.

Sunday, May 20: Mrs. Bellingrath’s Birthday Celebration. Born on May 20, 1878, Bessie Morse Bellingrath left an enduring legacy of beauty in the Gardens and Home she created. Be sure to visit the Gift Shop for the annual “Buy Like Miss Bessie” sale!
