Another exciting season of symphony redefined comes to life with our region’s only fully professional symphony orchestra on November 15th.

Destin, Fl. (November 10, 2009) – The fourth season of symphony redefined opens with an all-star cast of guest artists performing with the orchestra in the acoustically superb setting at Grace Lutheran Church on November 15 at 3pm.

Recent Metropolitan Opera Competition winner Katherine Jolly, opens the performance with Samuel Barber’s treasure “Knoxville: Summer of 1915.” According to the New York Times, “Katherine Jolly used her agile, bright lyric soprano to superb effect…”

Principal flute Robin Horne, principal oboe Will Wise and interim principal trumpet Brian Buerkle take center stage to perform the regional premiere of Barber’s energetic “Capricorn Concerto.” The concert opens with Barber’s haunting work “Adagio for Strings,” which at one point, was the most popular piece of classical music downloaded from iTunes and concludes with Igor Stravinsky’s popular “Suite from Pulcinella,” based on the music from the ballet with the same name. “We are so fortunate to be able to present stellar guest artists with Sinfonia and even more so that our own orchestra members are so gifted and capable of sharing that spotlight,” stated Music Director Demetrius Fuller.
