The Biloxi National Cemetery will host a solemn Memorial Day wreath laying ceremony, accompanied by speeches, a moment of silence, and the playing of Taps. This will be the first public Memorial Day ceremony at the Biloxi National Cemetery since 2019. The VA is eager to have the local community and media partners spread the word and attend.
The keynote speaker will be Major General Michele C. Edmondson, Commander, Second Air Force and guest speaker will be Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) State Commander Gail Wilson. The ceremony will feature the honor guard from VFW Post #6731, and a wreath presentation with a Gold Star daughter, a representative from Disabled American Veterans, and a representative from the VFW.

Special Instructions: While this will be an outdoor event, all attendees, including media, are encouraged to adhere to CDC guidelines, wear masks, and maintain physical distancing from other attendees to limit the transmission of COVID-19.
The Department of Veterans Affairs operates 155 national cemeteries and 34 soldiers’ lots and monument sites in 44 states and Puerto Rico. More than 5 million Americans, including Veterans of every war and conflict, are buried in VA cemeteries. Fulfilling President Lincoln’s call “to care for him who shall have borne the battle,” VA also provides headstones, markers or medallions for Veterans buried in state, territorial and tribal Veterans’ cemeteries or interred in private cemeteries.
