A state-of-the-art magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine is designed to enhance the patient experience and provide physicians with the best images available.
The leading-edge technology in the Siemens 3T Lumina wide bore (70 cm) MRI is essential to providing precise images for effective diagnosis so that timely treatment can begin. The 3T at Andrews is the only MRI in the region with the new FDA-approved Boost Technology that reduces scan time by up to 50% with no compromise to image quality.
Additional advances include a 70-centimeter bore (the area of the machine where a patient lies down)with a table that undocks and can be removed for easier and safer patient transfer. This wide bore design allows more room for the patient during a scan. This may reduce the feeling of claustrophobia some patients experience during an MRI exam. Other features include faster scan times for more immediate and same-day access and a Bose state-of -the-art stereo system that offers quality sound and a wide range of audio entertainment choices for patients.
“We’re seeing tremendous results,” said David Koppy, B.S., R.T., senior MRI technologist. “Many of our patients have noticed the considerably faster scan time, and our physicians are very impressed with the high-resolution images being produced.”
“This new machine significantly improves the MRI experience for our patients,” said Chad McCammon, vice president of orthopaedics for Baptist Health Care. “That enhanced patient experience is always top-of -mind for us, and this is another great example of that commitment.”
