Organizers Host Bead Give Away
Pensacola Beach Mardi Gras, Inc. will host a bead give away on January 30 and a virtual parade on February 6 to celebrate the 2021 carnival season.
“Due to the COVID restrictions, we were not able to have our traditional Kids and Kritters Parade,” said Pensacola Beach Mardi Gras Board President Elizabeth Hewson. “We didn’t want the kids to miss an entire carnival season, so we have two events for them.”
The Kids and Kritters Mardi Gras Bead Give Away will be Saturday, January 30 from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Casino Beach parking lot, adjacent to the Pensacola Beach Visitor’s Information Center. Mardi Gras goodie bags for kids and kritters will be set out on decorated tables for the grab-and-go event. The event is being hosted outside. Masks and social distancing are encouraged.
“Kids and pet owners can come up and grab a goodie bag,” said Hewson. “They can open it in their car or at home. There will be no reason to linger or gather.”
The Kids and Kritters Virtual Parade will be a compilation of photos, videos and music to substitute for the in-person Mardi Gras walking procession. To participate, parents and pet owners should email a photo of their costumed child or pet to firstname.lastname@example.org. The virtual parade will go live Saturday, February 6 at 2 p.m. on the Pensacola Beach Mardi Gras Facebook page and website.
